Results from Day 9 Agar Plate Testing
Antibiotics Tests Results
The sensitivity of the bacteria to each antibiotic was determined by the diameter of the clear area around the tablet. Our unknown bacteria was sensitive to penicillin and tetracycline due to the 30mm diameter. Our unknown bacteria was not sensitive to Erythromycin concluded by the diameter of only 18mm. Our unknown bacteria was not sensitive to chloramphenicol concluded by the diameter of only 16mm. Our unknown bacteria was not sensitive to neomycin due to the diameter of only 10mm.
Results from Streptococcus and Staphylococcus Aureus Testing
The lack of "glowing" around the bacterial growth indicates gamma hemolysis which means that, although there is a cleared ring around the bacitracin, the test for Streptococcus in Kelsey's throat is negative.

The lacking yellow pigment of the bacterial growth indicates that there is no Staphylococcus present in Monica's nose.

EMB Test
We prepared an EMB plate to isolate and differentiate gram-negative enteric bacilli. Using aseptic technique we inoculated the plate and incubate it at 37 degrees C for 24-48 hours.
